An altar table for grounding

The Earth table has been designed as a grounding place or altar from a single piece of London plane tree.

The piece invites a synergetic relationship between a designed form and the original aliveness of the tree.

A carved symbol within the central surface can be aligned using a compass to honour the direction of the sun’s movements across the earth.

Crafted using a fusion of formal carpentry and hand sculpting, each piece is unique in texture and form.

“Earth is made from a beautiful piece of London Plane tree. The grain moves across the surface like a landscape. When making this piece I was thinking a lot about pilgrimage to a sacred place. I carved a sacred marking into the surface as an offering. "
